Croxley Green Passivhaus
This project reimagines a typical 1950s semi‑detached house in Hertfordshire, transforming an ageing property into a benchmark for sustainable, future‑ready living. Through a deep retrofit, the home has achieved EnerPHit Plus* standards, dramatically improving its energy performance and integrating renewable technologies throughout. Upgrades include comprehensive insulation, thermal‑bridge reduction, airtightness improvements and high‑performance triple‑glazed windows.
To support these fabric‑first measures, the home now features an air‑source heat pump, solar PV array and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR). Together, these systems deliver exceptional year‑round comfort with minimal energy demand, significantly reducing reliance on fossil fuels, lowering running costs and creating a healthier indoor environment.
The architectural design enhances everyday living too. A generous rear extension forms a bright, social heart of the home - perfect for family life and entertaining - while a two‑storey side extension enlarges the former boxroom and provides a spacious, modern family bathroom.
With the UK’s housing stock among the oldest and least efficient in Europe - and with 80% of the homes that will be occupied in 2050 already built - projects like this show the transformative potential of retrofit. By pairing sustainability with contemporary design, this home demonstrates that energy efficiency and modern living can work seamlessly together.
The results speak for themselves: heating demand has fallen by an extraordinary 95%, even as the floor area has increased by almost 50%. This remarkable home proves what is possible when deep retrofit is approached with ambition, care and technical rigour.

Chorleywood
This project involved the transformation of a detached house located in a Conservation Area, prioritizing the preservation of its original character. Our objective was to enhance the living spaces by creating a brighter dining room and a more spacious living room, as well as incorporating a guest bedroom/snug room with an ensuite shower room. We replaced the existing single glazed windows with bespoke, high-performance double glazed timber windows for improved energy efficiency. The extensions were designed to be airtight and highly insulated, ensuring optimal comfort for the residents.
Rickmansworth
When the owners purchased this substantial five‑bedroom home in a sought‑after location, they saw more than a property - they saw the opportunity to shape a space that truly reflected how they wanted to live. Before moving in, they set out to modernise and reconfigure the house, creating generous areas for family life, entertaining and everyday comfort.
Working together, we transformed the layout with a part single‑storey, part double‑storey extension that opens up bright, flexible spaces for hosting friends and family. Practical additions such as a new utility room and a welcoming ground‑floor guest suite make the home easier to live in day to day.
Upstairs, the master bedroom was redesigned as a calm retreat. A vaulted ceiling introduces height and light, while the new en‑suite and walk‑in wardrobe bring a sense of luxury and convenience. Throughout the home, improved glazing, updated building fabric and modern services contribute to better comfort and efficiency, ensuring the house performs as well as it looks.
The result is a refined, functional and beautifully balanced home - one that supports lively gatherings, quiet moments and everything in between.

A dated conservatory had left this home with a cramped, gloomy kitchen and a dining area that was uncomfortable throughout the year - overheating in summer and losing heat rapidly in winter. Our redesign rethought the entire ground‑floor layout, replacing the conservatory and introducing both rear and front extensions to create a bright, welcoming heart of the home.
Upstairs, a new first‑floor extension added an additional bedroom, transforming the property into a spacious five‑bedroom family home. Alongside the improved layout, upgraded glazing, underfloor heating, modern construction methods and better‑performing materials have helped create a more comfortable, efficient environment that feels balanced and inviting in every season.

Golders Green
This North London home was ready for a new chapter. The family envisioned a space where daily life could unfold naturally - cooking together, sharing meals and gathering in one warm, welcoming place.
We brought that vision to life with a generous single‑storey extension that reshaped the ground floor into a flowing, split‑level layout. The new kitchen, dining and family areas connect effortlessly, yet each retains its own character.
Skylights and carefully positioned side windows draw daylight deep into the space, making mornings feel bright and uplifting while evenings settle into a soft, inviting glow.
A high ceiling adds openness and drama, while a thoughtful mix of spotlights and pendant lighting creates warmth and atmosphere - equally suited to lively dinners, quiet family evenings or celebrations with friends.
What was once a traditional layout is now the vibrant heart of the home: a space designed not just for cooking and entertaining, but for living fully and making memories together.
